The BROZ ENSEMBLE was founded by Mario Mariani
in 1992, just after his previous band "CAPILLARY" had broken
up (LP "PTS" produced by Paul Chain still survives -remastered
on CD). Mario Mariani, under the pseudonym of Von Braun was Capillary's
co-founder.
On various occasions the Broz Ensemble has put itself to the test by attempting
the most desperate (and disperate) feats: sight-dreading a score written
by the audience, guided improvisation following MM's gestures (or audience's),
two days of reharsal just before taking part in an International Music
Festival, and so on...
Mario Mariani is the singer and leader of the
group. Although he holds a Piano degree (at Rossini Conservatory of Music
-Pesaro) he luckily remains a self-taught composer.
He often attemps to portray through his music (thanks to his sarcastic,
low-budget humour) the contradictions of contemporary society, with particular
regard to the third part of the twentieth century - of which he thinks
he is the best composer and interpreter.
